Improving dog health and well-being and reinforcing the human-canine bond enrich the quality of life for dogs and people alike.It is essential to support efforts in, and commitment to, responsible dog breeding and dog ownership.Many challenges in dog health and well-being extend beyond national borders, and international collaboration is essential in addressing them.Effective collaboration requires readily accessible, evidence-based knowledge; the informed perspectives of multiple stakeholders; and a highly engaged dog community (organisations and individuals) contributing resources to support the work.IPFDogs strives to be a trusted source of balanced, transparent resources to assist stakeholders to make well informed decisions that – first and foremost – serve the best interests of the dogs under their purview.

The general goals of the International Partnership for Dogs are:

To develop and manage the infrastructure needed to support collaborative initiatives.

Objectives
The specific objectives of the International Partnership for Dogs shall be:

To position the International Partnership for Dogs as a unique, independent coordinating mechanism that brings the global dog community closer together through the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and resources.

To support an informed, connected global dog community facilitating access to evidence-based information and resources.

To bring together key stakeholders from around the world to discuss challenges and opportunities, formulate and prioritize actions, and facilitate specific projects to improve the health, well-being, breeding and ownership of dogs.

To maintain infrastructure supporting collaborative projects (e.g., DogWellNet, databases, working groups).
-
To ensure the long-term relevance and sustainability of the International Partnership for Dogs by remaining aware of, and responsive to, the ever-changing needs of its stakeholders.
Stakeholders
Our stakeholders represent a broad, international cross-section of the global dog community, including:

Dog organisations and their members, breeding registries, kennel and breed clubs, associated health committees, and breeding advisors.

Committed, health-conscious dog breeders.

Veterinarians and veterinary care providers, veterinary organizations.

Researchers.

Educators and their students.

Pet industry (e.g., genetic test providers, food manufacturers, insurers).

Other non-profit dog health and welfare associations or organisations.

Youth (e.g., junior handlers, other young people who represent the future of the dog community).
